Dr. Yolanda Sanz participates in the congress "International Human Microbiome Consortium (IHMC)".

Dr. Yolanda Sanz, from the Microbial Ecology, Nutrition and Health group of the Institute of Agrochemistry and Food Technology (IATA), recently participated in the International Human Microbiome Consortium (IHMC) conference held in Ireland from 26-28 June.

The goal of IMHC is to work under a common set of principles and policies to study and understand the role of the human microbiome in maintaining health and disease causation and to use that knowledge to improve the ability to prevent and treat disease. The Consortium's efforts focus on generating a data sharing resource that allows researchers to characterize the relationship between the composition of the human microbiome (or parts of the human microbiome) and human health and disease.

Yolanda Sanz participated with the paper "Exploring Diet-Microbiome Interactions to Predict and Prevent Obesity", in which she presented some of the results obtained from the European project MyNewGut.

The MyNewGut project investigates how the human intestinal microbiota and its genome (microbiome) can influence obesity, behavioural and lifestyle disorders and vice versa. It also aims to identify specific dietary strategies to improve the long-term health of the population.
