I studied Chemistry, specialty Polymer Chemistry, at the University of Valencia (SPAIN), where I got my B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees. Since 1991, I was hired at the Institute of Agrochemistry and Food Technology of the Scientific Research Council in Spain, where, presently, I hold a position of Research Professor. Among my duties, I carry out basic and applied research tasks and educational activities in the area of Plastic Food Packaging. My area of expertise is food packaging materials, food/packaging interactions, and food packaging technologies.
As a research scientist, I have been involved in investigations through diverse long-term R&D projects financed by public Institutions (EU, National, and local) as well as in more specific projects financed by private companies. As part of my research tasks, I am author of 180 papers in peer-reviewed journals, 2 co-authored books, 1 co-edited book and 20 book chapters. I am also an active participant in Scientific Seminars and Congresses.
Educational activities are part of my professional life. I have participated as a teacher in undergraduate and graduate courses. Presently, I teach regularly graduate, MS and PhD courses at both, University of Valencia and Polytechnic University of Valencia. Food packaging and plastic packaging are my two areas of expertise. I am also involved in Lifelong educational programs, as teacher and organizer.
