Valencia is full of color with the First National Meeting of Carotenoids

Last week the First National Meeting on Carotenoids in Microorganisms, Plants, Food and Health in the ADEIT was held in Valencia.

The Congress gathered all the carotenoid experts from Spain that belong to CaRed, the "Networks of Excellence" funded by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, and had a broad national participation and European and South American guests.

The opening ceremony of the event was chaired by the Rector of the University of Valencia, Professor Esteban Morcillo, and with the participation of the Institutional Coordinator of CSIC in the Valencian Community, José Pío Beltrán, the director of the Institute of Agrochemistry and Food Technology (IATA), Cristina Molina Rosell, and accompanied by the Coordinator of CaRed, Manuel Rodríguez Concepción and Lorenzo Zacarías, president of the organizing committee of the congress and IATA researcher.

It is important to remark the fundamental work of organization of both Lorenzo Zacarías and Dr. María Jesús Rodrigo, also a researcher in the field of carotenoids at IATA.

Throughout the event several conference blocks were held where they discussed the latest developments and scientific advances, the needs of the industrial sector and the demands of consumers, while establishing contacts and discussions to enhance future collaborations and exchanges.

In addition, a block dedicated to public disclosure was made, where all those interested in the world of carotenoids and color could better understand what they are and what they are for.

The congress was held at the ADEIT Foundation, located in the historic center of Valencia, the city that this year has the title of the world capital of sustainable food.
