Yolanda Sanz receives the International Hippocrates Award for Medical Research in Human Nutrition

Yolanda Sanz, researcher at the Institute of Agrochemistry and Food Technology, received the XV International Hipócrates Prize for Medical Research on Human Nutrition-CLAS awarded by the Royal Academy of Medicine and Surgery of Asturias last November 7 in Oviedo.
The award-winning work is entitled: "Effects of a dairy product supplemented with inulin and maltodextrin on weight loss and risk markers of cadiometabolic diseases in the context of a calorie-restricted diet. Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled intervention.

The scientific rigor of the study and the topicality of the subject have been evaluated, demonstrating that the intake of fibre increases the bacterial diversity in the intestinal microbiota, which has a favourable impact on cardiometabolic health parameters, mainly in women.
