IATA organizes the Second International Symposium on Bioactive Peptides

  • The aim of this meeting was to present the latest developments on bioactive peptides and their health benefits for consumers.

Fidel Toldrá, research professor at the Institute of Agrochemistry and Food Technology (IATA), research centre of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), organised last week, together with Jianping Wu, researcher at the University of Alberta (Canada), the Second International Symposium on Bioactive Peptides which was held at ADEIT Fundación Universidad-Empresa de la Universitat de València.

The aim of this symposium was to present the latest developments and create the right environment to discuss issues related to bioactive peptides and their health benefits for consumers. The first edition took place in 2017 in Hangzhou (China).

The symposium was structured into invited lectures and communications on six main topics: structural and functional characterisation; intestinal absorption and transport; physiological mechanisms of action; generation of bioactive peptides; advances and challenges in the analysis of bioactive peptides; and health benefits of bioactive peptides and consumer research applications. Subsequently, a selection of the invited lectures will be published in the Journal of Functional Foods (Elsevier).
