
Jaime Zacarías and Florencia Rey, from the Institute of Agrochemistry and Food Technology have received the prize for the best communication from predoctoral students for their work entitled "Relationship between antioxidant capacity and vitamin C and carotenoid content in citrus fruits with colour diversity".
This work has been presented at the II National Meeting on CAROTENOIDES in Microorganisms, Plants, Food and Health, held last 7th and 8th in Granada.
This meeting is carried out by the Spanish Network of Carotenoids (CaRed) which is within the framework of the "Networks of Excellence" funded by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness. CaRed integrates ten research groups that together cover the main aspects of carotenoid research, including metabolism and regulation in plants, animals and microorganisms, biotechnological production and manipulation, functional modification, analysis and purification, bioaccessibility and bioavailability in food, and its effects on human health.
