Reme Melero participated in the #WikiGap last 8th of March

Last 8th of March, on the occasion of the day of the working woman, #WikiGap was hold in Madrid. An editathon to reduce both the gender gap and other gaps related to diversity in Wikipedia, in which our colleague Reme Melero, a researcher at the Institute of Agrochemistry and Food Technology (IATA) participated.

#WikiGap Madrid was a day full of activities in which the current situation of women in science and technology analyzed, the relationship that these research areas have with the movement for free knowledge and the reduction of the gender gap in Wikipedia.

The initiative is part of the feminist foreign policy of the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which seeks to strengthen the rights of women and girls, as well as their representation and the resources to which they have access.

The day started with the intervention of two women linked to science. Esther Sánchez spoke about "Women, science and technology" and gave some data to analyze the gender gap and the oppressions suffered by women in the sector. Afterwards, Reme Melero introduced the concept of "Open Science".
