María Jesús Rodrigo, IATA researcher, has participated as guest speaker at the Training School of the COST EUROCAROTEN action, organised by the Royal Holloway College University of London

The Trainning School `Carotenoid Pathway Engineering and Analysis´ was held from 8 to 10 April within the framework of the COST EUROCAROTEN action at the School of Biological Science of the Royal Holloway College (University of London), under the direction of Prof. Paul Fraser (RHUL) and Prof. Gerhard Sandmann (University of Frankfurt).   Sixteen ECI (Early Career Investigators) participated in this Training School, training in analytical and biotechnological techniques commonly used for the study of carotenoid metabolism in microorganisms and plants. The course had different practical laboratory sessions that were combined with theoretical seminars by specialists in this area of work. María Jesús Rodrigo participated with the seminar `Carotenoid biosynthesis and apocarotenoid formation as an example in Citrus´.

This Traning School is an activity included in the COST EUROCAROTEN action (CA15136) in which IATA researchers María Jesús Rodrigo and Lorenzo Zacarías are part of the 'Biosynthesis and metabolism' working group of carotenoides´. EUROCAROTEN is a multidisciplinary network that brings together researchers and professionals from 34 countries and whose objective is to establish interactions and synergies between the different participants to promote research in the area of carotenoids and their applications in agroalimentation and health.
