On July 16, our colleague Concha Collar retired. Doctor in Chemical Sciences, and CSIC Research Professor in the group of Cereals and Products Derived from Cereals, Concha was Head of the Food Science Department in the period 2005-2008. Her professional career has had a clearly international character, actively participating in different associations such as the International Association of Cereal Science and Technology (ICC), from which she hold the Presidency in 2007-2008. Her work has been rewarded with various awards and honors such as the AACC International Technical Planning Team Annual Meeting Award (USA) in 2007, the Harald Perten Foundation Prize in 2008, and the Friedrich Schweitzer Medal in recognition of her international dissemination work on science and cereal technology in 2009. In 2008 she was named an honorary member of the Chinese Cereal and Oil Association (CCOA) and since 2011, she is a fellow of the ICC Academy.
