La presentación de 45 minutos de Atanu Biswas será un poco inusual; podrá gustar o no, pero seguro que no aburrirá. Además de ciencia, Atanu hablará sobre la experiencia vital de su viaje desde India a Estados Unidos, donde vive desde hace 40 años. ¡Y nos ofrecerá chocolate!.
El Prof. Atanu Biswas es Investigador del USDA y trabaja en el National Center for Agricultural Utilization Research (NCAUR/ARS) y actualmente realiza una estancia como Investigador visitante en el Grupo de Nuevos Materiales y Nanotecnología para Aplicaciones Alimentarias, del IATA.


Besides science Atanu Biswas’s 45-minute presentation will talk about the life experience during his journey from India to USA where he lived for 40 years. This presentation will be a bit unusual; whether you like it or not, and you will not be bored. You will be served chocolate.

Atanu Biswas is a Lead Scientist with USDA at Peoria, IL.  He received his Ph.D. from the University of Notre Dame, USA in 1985.  After a postdoctoral stay at University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA he went to Hercules Incorporated where he worked for 14 years and had 6 patents and several successful commercial products. His research deals with green chemistry, polysaccharides, and vegetable oils.  A recent focus has been the chemical and enzymatic modifications of renewable resources to produce value-added products.
His research emphasizes creativity, collaboration and team work in developing new bio-based materials from starches and proteins using various chemical, physical and biochemical processes to create new market opportunities for agricultural products, and for usage in formulations of adhesives, bio-based plastics, coatings, films, hydrogels, and absorbents.
